Kassie Monday earned athlete of the week honors after leading the Patriots women’s basketball team to a pair of NAIA tournament wins on the week.  Monday tied her career-high with 35 points and dished out career-high 13 assists to go along with five steals and four rebounds in UC’s 117-108 triple overtime win over Midway in the NAIA first round.  The sophomore scored 17 of her 35 points in overtime, including 11 in third overtime as the Pats pulled away from the Eagles for their first NAIA Tournament win in over a decade.  The 13 assists set a new UC record for assists in a NAIA Tournament game, while the 35 points tied Lauren Wombles for most points in a tournament game.  The Clarkrange, TN native followed that up with a team-high 16 points and five assists in Cumberlands second-round win over John Brown.  Monday closed out the game converting all six of her free-throws in the fourth quarter to help the Patriots advance to the round of 16 for the first time since 2009.  With her performance on the week, Monday now has 195 assists on the season, which surpassing Melissa Irvin single season mark of 192 set back during the 1993-94 season.
