Kennedy Sumpter earned athlete of the week honors after dominating the women’s barebow division capturing four gold medals and six podium finishes on the weekend.  Sumpter opened regionals by pulling away from the competition and earning the top qualifying seed after carding a 569.  The sophomore tallied the two best rounds by any competitor as she earned the top-seed by 64 points and was three points away from breaking the national record.  Sumpter went 4-0 at regionals to earn gold in the women’s barebow division.  After winning her first two matches to advance to the semifinals, she outscored her opponents 13-3, including a 7-1 win over Allison Collinsworth in the finals, to finish atop the podium.  Sumpter teamed up with Tyler Woosley in the mixed team rounds to win both their matches by a combined score of 11-1.  The Cynthiana, KY native followed that up by earning first place in the MSC women’s barebow division after posting a 4-0 record.  She outscored her opposition 18-2 over the first three rounds to advance to the championship match.  In the finals, Sumpter won the first two ends and after the match was tied at 4-4 carded a 24 in the fifth end to win the match.  The sophomore earned a pair of silver medals as part of UC’s women’s barebow team division.
