Kimber Wheeler earned athlete of the week honors after posting five podium finishes, including capturing a trio of first place. The Craig, CO native opened the week carding a 664, including a 337 in the second round, to qualify second in the fixed pins division. Wheeler followed that up going 4-0, winning her first three matches by at least nine points each. In the finals the junior knocked off Sophia Hunziger (LWC) 140-137 to place first at the regionals. She followed that up by going 4-0 during MSC head-to-head elimination, including a 136-132 win over Alicia Aviles (LWC) in the gold medal match to finish atop the podium. Wheeler followed that up by being part of UC’s women’s fixed pins team that won a one-arrow shoot-off in the finals to capture gold. The junior capped off her tournament with a runner-up finish in the mixed team division.
