Mishawaka, IN – The UC men's wrestling team took on the third-ranked Warriors of Indiana Tech in a neutral site dual on Friday night. The Patriots overpowered the Warriors in the match 31-13. Cumberlands goes to 1-0 on the year while Indiana Tech falls to 0-1.
At 125 pounds, fifth-ranked
Hayden Lee defeated top-ranked Sawyer Miller in a 7-3 decision to allow UC the first lead at 3-0. First-ranked
Jake Sinkovics, 133 pounds, won by fall over third-ranked Enrique Early for the Patriots to go up 9-0. The Warriors took the win at 141 to close the gap to 9-3. Fourth-ranked
Tres Leon, 149 pounds, picked up another win for UC by fall over second-ranked Thomas Garty to extend the lead to 15-3. Indiana Tech again took a win at 157 pounds to shorten the deficit to 15-7.
The Warriors barely took the win at 165 pounds in a tiebreaker, making the score 15-10. At 174 pounds, Indiana Tech took their third win in a row to come within two at 15-13.
Max Emerson, 184 pounds, picked up a pin victory over 13th-ranked Zach Davis, pushing the Patriot lead to 21-13. Another win at 197 pounds by ninth-ranked
Eric Deluse in a 15-0 tech fall over Tyler Moser gave UC a 26-13 lead. Ranked 16th,
Quandre Chisolm, at 285 pounds, also won in a 16-0 tech fall over Eric Ousley for Cumberlands to win the dual 31-13.
The Patriots will be back on the mat Tuesday, November 21 in Louisville, Kentucky for a dual against the Knights of Bellarmine University. Match is set to begin at 6 p.m.
