Box Score Nashville, TN – After a dominating first half that saw the Patriot ladies hold an 18-point lead at the break, it would take some solid defense from UC to hold on for their seventh straight victory of the season as they defeated Fisk University 66-63 tonight in Nashville. The win pushes the Patriots to 7-1 overall on the year.
The Patriots dominated the first half of play, shooting over 46% from the field and an impressive 61.5% (8-13) from deep. UC finished the first quarter up nine by a score of 17-8 before widening the gap at the break to 18 points at 37-19. Fisk would make some adjustments at the half as they would rally, cutting the lead back to 47-37 entering the fourth quarter. There, Fisk would have their most prolific quarter of the contest, but UC was able to hold off the rally and earn their seventh win of the year by three.
Alani Fisher was a workhorse in the contest off the bench for UC, going 7-11 from deep in the game for 21 points along with two rebounds and a steal.
Callia Cropp added 13 points, two assists, and two steals in the win. The Patriots outrebounded the Bulldogs 31-22 in the game while they shot 51.1% from the field and 52.4% from beyond the arc.
The Patriots will look for their eighth straight win on Wednesday, December 6
th as they travel to Montgomery, West Virginia to take on the Golden Bears of West Virginia Tech. Game time is set for 5:30 pm. A win for UC would be the longest winning streak for the Patriot ladies since the 2011-2012 season, a year when UC would win 23 straight games en route to a 28-4 season.
