Wilmore, KY- The University of the Cumberlands men's soccer team defeated Asbury University 2-1 off two second half goals. With the win the Patriots improve to 4-2-2 and the Eagles fall to 2-3.
 
In the first half the Patriots Filip Milivojevic fired off the first shot of the game that came in the seventh minute, but it missed high. UC fired another shot in the 14' this time by Joel Caldwell but Asbury's Brian Wood saved it. Cumberlands had two more shots on goal in the first half but Wood saved both. The only goal in the half came from Asbury's Joe Harper with an assist by Owyn Howard in the 43' to put the Eagles up 1-0.
 
Ahmed Ghatwary recorded his only save of the game early in the second half.   The Patriots scored the equalizer with a goal by Max Aken-Tyers assisted by Nicklas Nancke and Joel Drewery in the 76'.  Shortly after Aken-Tyers' goal Nancke would record a goal of his own with an assist by Drewery in the 81' to give Cumberlands the 2-1 win.
 
In the win UC outshot Asbury 18-7.  
 
The Patriots will return to the field on Friday, September 22 at Columbia International University in Columbia, SC at 7:00 p.m.
