Denmark, SC – The Patriots' Women's Basketball continued their road trip in South Carolina on Saturday against the Tigers of Voorhees College. A back and forth contest would end up being decided in the fourth quarter where the Tigers would prevail by a score of 61-60. The loss moves UC to 8-3 on the year.
A slow start offensively by the Patriots would see UC trail by seven after the first ten minutes of action, but a much better second quarter of play would see Cumberlands push themselves out front 28-25 at the half. A solid third quarter by the Patriots would see them lead 51-41, but Voorhees would come alive in the final ten minutes to edge out the Patriots by one to hand UC their third loss of the year.
Three Patriots would tally double figures in the loss led by Hannah Lawson off the bench with 12 points and three rebounds. Kayla Bruner added 11 points with six rebounds and two steals while Jasmine Rhodes chipped in a double-double with ten points with 13 boards and an assist.
Cumberlands shot just 31.5% from the floor in the game, but went 22-33 from the charity stripe. The Patriots were outscored on the bench on the night by the Tigers 27-20.
UC returns home on Monday, December 3rd with a morning game against the University of the Virgin Islands. Tip-off is scheduled for 11 am.
