Pikeville, KY – UC Women's Basketball took to the floor at the East Kentucky Expo Center on Thursday in the quarterfinal round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament against third-seeded Lindsey Wilson College. A strong first half would have the Patriots in position to contend, but Lindsey Wilson would continue to pound the ball down low, making their way to the charity stripe numerous times as they would pull away for a 74-57 win, ending the season for the Patriot ladies.
 
In the first, it was Kayla Bruner coming out of the gate hot, scoring UC's first eight points of the contest. LWC would trade baskets with the Patriots for much of the quarter, but Cumberlands would hold a slight edge over the Blue Raiders 13-11 after one quarter of play. The second saw both teams begin the period looking for the three point shot. With the score 19-19, Lindsey Wilson began to push the ball down low, making their way to the free throw line where they went 9-11 in the half to hold a 27-23 lead over UC at the break.
 
UC began the third on a 7-2 run to take a 30-29 lead with just over seven minutes to play in the quarter. LWC would then go back to pounding the ball down low, getting a few baskets to go on a 9-1 run, making it 38-31 Blue Raiders with just under five to go in the period. UC and Lindsey would continue to trade baskets from the floor as the Blue Raiders would hold a 51-44 lead entering the final quarter of play. LWC opened the fourth quarter on a 8-2 run to go ahead 59-46 with under five minutes to play. The Blue Raiders would hold on to the lead for the remainder of the contest, holding on for a 74-57 win over the Patriots.
 
UC was led on the night by Kayla Bruner with 24 points (5-7 3PT), three rebounds, and an assist. Shayla Simpson chipped in 11 points while Cheyenne Madden added six points and eight rebounds. UC shot 36.4% from the field in the loss and 40% (8-20) from three point range.
 
The loss ends the season for the Patriots as their final record would sit at 16-13 overall.
