Dayton, TN – The University of the Cumberlands women's soccer team continues their winning ways by beating Bryan Lions 2-0 Tuesday night. This pushes their overall record to 5-0 on the season for the first time since 1999.
 
In the first half, the Patriots looked to control the game early, firing off six shots in the first 15 minutes of the match. In the 16' minute Alanna Skinner took a corner, Bryan tried to clear the ball out, however it deflected off another Lion and into the net to give UC the 1-0 lead. The two teams went back and forth sharing shots and possession of the ball throughout the first half but neither was able to score keeping the game 1-0 at the break.  
                             
Coming off the break, the Patriots fired one shot in the first minute looking to extend their lead. Five minutes later, in the 51' minute Bryan looked to score an equalizing goal but the shot went wide. The Patriots and Lions traded possessions for the next 18 minutes until Sara Randez took a shot outside the 18 yard box, placing it over the head of the goalie for the 2-0 lead in the 69' minute. Cumberlands defense continue their strong play, holding Bryan scoreless for the 2-0 final and their fourth straight shutout.  
 
Patriots outshot the Lions 29-15 in the contest. Christie Funk recorded four saves in the match to improve to 5-0 on the season. This marks the first time since 2016 that UC has recorded four straight shutouts. The Patriots are averaging 4.60 goals per game.
