Grayson, KY – The UC volleyball team posted a pair of 3-0 victories over Glenville State and Kentucky Christian to extend their win streak to five. The Patriots defeated the Pioneers 25-19, 25-9, 25-18 before recording a 25-16, 25-16, 25-18 win over the Knights to improve to 9-4 on the season.
The Patriots were in control right from the start as
Lynsey Short continued her strong performance dishing out 32 assists and averaging over ten assists per set for the fourth straight match.
Ashley Sobocinski led the way with 12 kills and three blocks.
Megan Jackson and
Leah Crist combined for 16 blocks and ten kills to help UC earn the 3-0 win.
After taking the first set 25-19, Cumberlands used runs of eight and four points to pull away for the 25-9 win in the second set. UC jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the third set and cruised to a 25-18 win for the 3-0 final.
The Patriots strong play carried over against Kentucky Christian as the Patriots posted a 25-16, 25-16, 25-18 win. Sobocinski again led the charge with 13 kills and four digs, while Koch posted eight kills and four blocks. Short dished out 25 assists, six digs, and three kills.
Leading the way defensively was Routliffe, who notched 17 digs, while Crist made a team-high five blocks and five kills. Jen Stein chipped in seven digs in the victory.
The Patriots will return to action Tuesday, September 11, when they open up Mid-South Conference action against Cumberland at 7 p.m. in the UC Volleyball Gym. Live video will be available
