Williamsburg, KY – The third-ranked UC women's swimming & diving team won nine out of 15 events and hit 11 national standards to earn a trio of wins as they wrapped up their regular season with a quad dual Saturday afternoon at the Dinah Taylor Aquatic Center. UC defeated MSC foes Bethel (187-63) and Life (183-54) as well as NCAA DII (183-63).
Leading the way for the Patriots was seniors
Christina Klouda,
Katy Smeltzer, and
Danielle Rehl. Klouda notched a pair of wins taking top honors in the 200 back with a time of 2:09.04, before touching the wall in 1:12.73 in the 100 breast.
Smeltzer swam 2:02.46 in the 200 free to hit a NAIA "A" standard and win the event. Rehl tallied 172.65 points in the one-meter dive competition, her second best mark of the season. That trio teamed with
Kristi Burnette to be UC's top finisher in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:02.58.
Yuliia Hnidenko notched a season-best time of 4:55.96 to win the 400 IM and earn an "A" cut, while
Casey Walin tallied a "B" standard with a time of 5:03.10.
Mendy De Rooi,
Rebecca Loftus and
Cameron Klimczak each posted an individual win on the day. De Rooi won the 1,000 free (11:05.93), while Loftus and Klimczak were the top finishers in the 100 back (1:03.97) and the 50 free (25.71), respectfully.
With the Patriots wins today Head Coach
Eric Skelly has surpassed the 100 dual-meet win mark at Cumberlands.
