As a sophomore (2016-17) … MSC First Team All-Conference … Three time MSC Second Team All-Conference … MSC Academic All-Conference  … MSC swimmer of the Week (10/31) … Competed in all 11 events … Took part in eight different events, with primary focus on the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 fly … Hit the NAIA “A” cut in five events … Posted three top-five finishes at the Mid-South Conference Championships, including a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly touching the wall in 1:00.05 … Finished fourth in the 100 free with a time of 54.60 and fifth in the 50 free with a time of 25.00 … Swam a season-best time of 24.96 at the Magnus Cup Invite … Hit the NAIA “A” standard in the 200 free (1:59.71) and the 200 butterfly (2:17.09) at the Magnus Cup Invite … Smeltzer was also a key part of the Patriots relay teams throughout the season … Ranked tenth all-time in program history in the 100 fly (1:00.05).
