10/27/2019 9:45:00 PM

Box Score Columbia, KY - In a battle between the two remaining undefeated Mid-South Conference opponents, the game needed extra time to decide a victor as 18th-ranked UC fell to eighth-ranked Lindsey Wilson in double overtime, 0-1. With the loss, the Patriots move to 10-2-1, and 5-1 in conference play.

From the first whistle, UC looked to get on the board early off shots from Shara Randez and Laura Navajas Marin but could not connect with the back of the net. The Patriots and Blue Raiders went shot for shot in the final minutes of the first half but were unable to convert any as the game went into halftime scoreless.

The second half began similar to the first, with offensive power as UC outshot LWC 6-2 over the first twenty minutes. In the 65', Maria Frazier took a shot at the upper right corner of the goal, but UC goalie Nicole Panis made a diving save to keep the Blue Raiders off the scoreboard. Cumberlands saw their best scoring chance of the half in the next minute when Navajas placed a shot on goal but was stopped by the Blue Raiders' goalkeeper. Neither team capitalized on their final shots on goal in regulation, sending the game to overtime.

The first overtime opened up with a pair of shots from both teams but neither goalie could be shaken. Lindsey Wilson saw their best scoring opportunity when they took a free kick from 40 yards out that Cumberlands Selena Barnet blocked to preserve the tie, sending the match into double overtime. The second overtime began with back and forth action in the midfield with both teams splitting possession. In the waning minutes of the match, the Patriots fouled Blue Raiders forward Thea Birgerud, whcih set up a free kick 35 yards from the goal. Birgerud sent a lob shot that went over the head of Panis and into the goal to give LWC the 1-0 victory with 4:18 remaining.

Lindsey Wilson is now the only remaining team undefeated in MSC conference play at 6-0 and 11-3-1 overall.
