10/6/2019 10:01:00 PM

Foley, AL – An impressive second day of shooting would see the UC Archery Team gather four team championships en route to bringing home their second straight USA Archery 3D Collegiate National Title. The four championships added 16 points to the Patriots total of 26 from the previous day to give them 42 total points, eight points better than runner-up University of Pikeville. Lindsey Wilson would finish with 24 points for third while Union earned fourth with 15 points.

The Compound divisions would see both the Patriots' teams seeded highly. The Women's team comprised of Hannah Moose, Brooke Miller, and Amanda Newland would find themselves as the top seed and run through the six-team field to earn gold in the division, beating Liberty in the semifinal and Union by one point in the championship match to give their team four big points. On the men's side, the team of Aaron Adams, Jase Boils, and Clay Weaver would be ranked second in the eight-team field. The men would down Mississippi College in the quarterfinals and Texas A&M in the semifinals by a two-point margin before facing Lindsey Wilson in the finals. The Patriots would snag a two-point win over the Blue Raiders for another critical four team points with the gold medal victory.

The Women's Bowhunter division team of Madison Cox, Michaela McDonald and Kaitlyn Shields would earn the top seed and defeat Wabash Valley in the quarterfinals. The Patriots would move on to defeat Kentucky Christian University in the semifinals before downing the Bears of Pikeville in the finals handily for another team title and four more big team points. The men's team comprised of Elliott Cross, Hunter Larese, and Caleb Dixon had the third seed overall out of eight. UC knocked off Wabash Valley in the quarterfinals by two before defeating Kentucky Christian in the semifinals. In the championship match, Cumberlands would knock off Union College easily for their fourth gold medal of the day and their final four points of the day.

The Patriots would have teams compete in Barebow divisions but would come up empty on podium finishes. The Women's Barebow team of Tara Currie, Brooke McDonald, and Kimberley Wheat would qualify third in the division, but would be eliminated in the quarterfinal round by Campbellsville. The fifth seeded Men's Barebow team of Jacob Stidham, Dalton Nealy, and Noah Fields would also be eliminated in the quarterfinals by the University of Pikeville.

Head Coach Kris Strebeck commented, "I'm really proud of this team for what they were able to accomplish after putting all the work in over the last couple of weeks. This team came into this weekend with one goal in mind, to defend this National Title and that's just what they did. I couldn't be prouder of this group of athletes."

UC now will turn their attention to indoor shooting as their next event comes on February 14th-15th in Madisonville, Kentucky as they will compete in the USA Archery Collegiate Indoor National Championships.
