Bowling Green, KY – An impressive debut from Maria Nunez Montes leads to her being named the Mid-South Conference Women's Archer of the Week, conference officials announced Tuesday. 

Nunez Montes posted four podium finishes on the week, including capturing a trio of conference titles.  The freshman opened with consistent shooting during regionals to carding a 198 in the first round, before coming back with a 199 in the second round.  Nunez Montes closed out regionals scoring 397 with five bonus rings to place second and earn the top-seed for the MSC Championship. 
 
In the individual shootdowns, Nunez Montes hit four 12's to led wire-to-wire and capture her first women's recurve title.  In addition to her individual success, Nunez found success in the team rounds.  She partnered with Alina Distelberg and Sheridan Weaver to post a 2-0 mark en route to winning gold in women's recurve team.  The trio won their two matches by a combined 53 points.  Nunez Montes closed out the championship with gold in mixed recurve after posting double-digit wins.

Cumberlands will return to the range October 15-17, when they travel to Foley, AL to compete at USA 3D Nationals.
