Williamsburg, KY  – The Patriots women's basketball team had 11 different scorers and shot 49.3% from the field to defeat Johnson 88-47 Saturday night on Randy Vernon Court. With the win the Patriots improve to 10-2 on the season, while the Royals fall to 5-6.

Addison Wilson led the way for UC with 16 points, including converting 4-9 from three, while Silvia Veloso added 14 points and four steals.  Vilma Covane notched 11 points and Reagon Begole and Carla Covane finished with 12 and 10 rebounds, respectfully. 

The two teams came out strong trading baskets over the first five minutes of play giving UC a 9-7 lead.  From that point the Patriots went on a 7-0 run, including a three from Hannah Lawson to extend the lead to 16-7 with 2:27 remaining.  UC netted seven of the final nine points of the quarter to take a 23-12 lead.

Veloso tallied the first eight points of the second quarter off three steals from the freshman.  Megan Morton drained a pair of three's to push the lead to 39-14 with 6:23 remaining.  The two teams traded buckets, however, Wilson hit from long range and a Jasmine Flowers field goal allowed the Patriots to double-up the Royals 46-23 at the break.

The Patriots opened up the second half  on a 10-2 run, including four points from both Vilma Covane and Veloso.  Johnson responded with an 8-4 run to cut the lead to 60-33 midway through the third quarter.  UC answered netted 10 of the final 12 points of the quarter, capped off by a Lawson three, to take a 70-36 lead into the fourth.

Abby Estes drained a three point to start the fourth quarter and sparked a 6-2 run, over the first three minutes.  Johnson cut the lead to 77-45, before Jasmyne Steward and Wilson combined to tally the Patriots final 11 points of the contest for the 88-47 final.
