Tomomi Nagao tallied the lone point as the 15
th-ranked UC women's tennis fell to Lincoln Memorial 6-1 in their season opener Saturday afternoon.
Lincoln Memorial struck first taking wins at #2 and #3 doubles to clinch the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead in the match. At #1 doubles, Nagao and
Jaclyn Jewell rallied against Johanna Delisse and Kristin Vogel to tie the match at 6-6 and force a tie-breaker. However, LMU won the tiebreaker 7-3.
The Railsplitters took #4, #2, and #6 singles to clinch the match with a 4-0 lead. LMU added straight set wins at #3 and #5 singles to extend their lead to 6-0. Nagao dropped the first set to Delisse 4-6, however rallied to win the second set 6-2 before taking the third set 10-5 for the 6-1 final.
The Patriots will return to the court Saturday, February 9, to face Young Harris in their home opener. The match is slated for 12 p.m. at the UC Tennis Court.
