Williamsburg, KY – UC Baseball carried another solid winning streak into today's doubleheader against the Foresters of Huntington University. After extending the streak to 13 with a 7-1 win in game one, the Patriots would see their streak snapped with a 9-4 loss to the Foresters in game two. The split of today's doubleheader send UC's overall record to 13-2 on the year.
 
Game one's start would be given to Zach Hurley as he would impress yet again with his appearance. After sitting down Huntington in order in the first, the Patriot offense would go to work. Five runs would cross the plate on three hits, all doubles from Pedro Nazario, Orley Arellano, and J.C. Santos, as well as a trio of errors from the Foresters to take an early 5-0 lead.
 
After quietly getting through four innings of work, Huntington would finally scratch a run across on a RBI double in the fifth to make it 5-1. UC would respond though with a RBI single from Bryan Benz in the bottom of the inning to push the lead back out to five at 6-1. An insurance run would be driven in on a RBI single from Santos to give UC the 7-1 win.
 
Hurley would dominate again with his second complete game of the year for the win. He finished the day going seven innings allowing one earned run on three hits and no walks while fanning six.
 
Josh Avila would take the start in game two, but had a rough time on the hill in this one. In the first, Huntington would get on the board early. After a leadoff single from Collin Landrum, a wild throw from Avila on a pickoff attempt would all Landrum to advance to third. A sac fly from Daniel Lichty would bring home the run, giving HU the 1-0 lead. UC would tie the game up though in the second as Benz drive a full count pitch over the left field fence for a solo home run, his third of the season, to knot the game up at 1-1.
 
The Foresters would retake the lead in the third on a second error from Avila, this time on a wild throw off a ground ball, which allowed Landrum to reach third again. A RBI single from Lichty would push Huntington out front 2-1. The opposition would then pull away, tallying a solo home run from Satchell Wilson, a bases loaded walk, and a two run single from Adam Roser to tally four runs in the fourth, making it 6-1 Huntington.
 
Another sac fly by Huntington would add to the lead in the sixth, but UC's offense would not go down without a fight. A bases loaded walk to Benz would give UC a run in the sixth, but the Patriots would strand the bags full heading to the seventh and trailing 7-2. HU added two more runs in the seventh on a two-run single from Donovan Clark to pull out front 9-2 as Cumberlands would come back to the plate looking to save their winning streak. The Patriots would load the bases immediately, but would only have two cross the plate as UC would fall 9-4 to the Foresters.
 
Avila would get tagged with the loss going 3.2 innings allowing six earned runs on six hits and a pair of walks to move his record on the year to 3-1.
 
The Patriots look to win the series on Saturday, March 2^nd as they host another doubleheader against the Foresters of Huntington University with game one's first pitch scheduled for 1 pm.
