Fort Wayne, IN – The third-ranked UC women's lacrosse team jumped out to 8-5 first half lead, however, it wasn't enough as the Patriots fell to fourth-ranked Indiana Tech 11-10 Monday afternoon at Warrior Athletic Field. With the win the Warriors improve to 3-2 on the season, while the Patriots move to 10-2.
Cumberlands struck first as

Katie Brewer cutting towards the cage for a goal 39 seconds into the first half. Indiana Tech netted back-to-back goals to take a 2-1 lead with 27:34 remaining. Three minutes later Kucis forced an Indiana Tech turnover and on the ensuing possession
Emily Heim connected with the back of the cage to tie the game at 2-2. Less than 30 seconds later,
Bella Ricchiazzi forced a turnover, scooped the ground ball and fired it into the cage to give UC a 3-2 edge. Heim tallied her second goal before
Jaclyn Berry connected on a man-up goal to extend the lead to 5-2 midway through the first half. Indiana Tech cut the lead to 5-4 before Heim completed her first half hat trick with a successful free position attempt to give UC a 6-4 advantage with 4:29 remaining. After the two teams traded goals,
Elizabeth Fladung won a draw control and connected with Ricchiazzi for a goal to give UC an 8-5 lead at the break.
Indiana Tech came out strong in the second half tallying four unanswered goals to take a 9-8 lead with 21:46 remaining. The score remained that way until the 13:13 mark when
Shea West put a well-placed free position shot past the keeper for the equalizer. Indiana Tech netted back-to-back goals to take an 11-9 lead with 5:12 remaining. Heim won the ensuing draw control and on the Patriots possession Heim would finish the possession with her fourth goal of the contest cutting the deficit to 11-10 with 4:18 remaining. UC looked for the equalizer however Berry's shot was saved by Sydney Davis keeping the score 11-10.
Heim led the way for the Patriots with four goals and four draw controls. Ricchiazzi and Brewer each added a pair of goals in the contest. Fladung scooped four draw controls and three ground balls, while
Kelly Webb notched a team-high four ground balls and three caused turnovers in the game.
Emily Crump tied her season-high with 14 saves in the contest
The Patriots return to the field Wednesday, March 27, when they host seventh-ranked Georgetown in a Mid-South Conference showdown. The game is slated for 6 p.m. with live video available
