Bowling Green, KY – After winning their season-opener 6-0, a pair of Patriots were recognized for their impressive performances as they swept the first MSC women's soccer weekly awards of the season, as announced by the conference office Monday. Amy Anderson notched MSC Offensive Player of the Week, while Nicole Panis earned MSC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Anderson earns her first career Offensive Player of the Week honor after tallying two goals and an assist in UC's home-opener Saturday against Rio Grande. The freshmen got the scoring started with a goal 1:42 into the first half and added her second goal later in the half to give Cumberlands a 3-0 lead. She becomes the first Patriot freshman to score a pair of goals in the season-opener since at least 2007.

Panis notches her first career Defensive Player of the Week honor after an impressive debut helping UC record its first season-opening shutout since 2003. The freshman made a spectacular diving save late in the first half to keep the Red Storm scoreless. That save led to a UC transition goal which gave Cumberlands a 3-0 lead only seconds later. Panis was also part of the backline that limited Rio Grande to just six shots on the contest.

The Patriots return to the field Saturday, August 24, when they host Cincinnati Christian for their second game of the season. The game is slated for 7 p.m. with live video available here, while live stats will be available here.
