Shawnee State scored the first three points of the second set, however, UC responded with three points of their own including a pair of assists from Anna Zuniga.  Shawnee went on a 7-3 run to take a 10-6 advantage before Cumberlands battled back as Rachel Scott record a service ace as part of a 7-0 run to put UC in front 13-10.  Shelby Lackey and Leah Crist combined for a pair of blocks as part of a 7-1 run to extend the lead to 20-13. Chapman scored three of Cumberlands final five points to take the set 25-18 and extend their lead to 2-0.

The Bears jumped out to an 11-5 lead in the third set.  UC started to rally as Lackey notched a pair of kills and a block with Crist to cut the deficit to 11-10. Shawnee State scored four unanswered points to extend their lead to 15-10.  Cumberlands continued to chip away at the lead including a 5-1 run, which featured a pair of kills from Chapman to bring the Patriots within one.  A couple of points later, Olivia Verdecchia notched a kill to tie the score at 20-20. UC would take the lead on the next point and hold on for the 25-23 win to take the match 3-0.
