Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Amanda Phillips

Patriots Roar Past Lions to Remain Undefeated

Williamsburg, KY - Four goals from four different scorers pushed the (RV) UC women's soccer team past the Bryan Lions 4-0 Saturday night at the UC Soccer Complex. Amy Anderson, Alba Lorca, Hannah Truckenmiller, and Micha Harris each netted a goal in the match to help UC improve to 4-0-1 on the season, including three shutouts.

Patriots offense got off to a quick start, scoring in the 10' as Naira Lopez found Lorca for a shot to the far corner, giving UC an early 1-0 lead. The two teams battled for possession for the next 35 minutes before the Cumberlands offense struck again. With 3:47 remaining in the first half, UC midfielder Shara Randez took away the ball from the Bryan defense and worked it upfield to find Anderson for a quick shot just inside the far corner of the goal, extending the Patriots' lead to 2-0 heading into halftime.

As the second half got underway, the Patriots resumed their offensive fire as Emily Willoughby and Anderson recorded a pair of shots, keeping the possession in favor of Cumberlands. With 33:05 remaining in the match, Anderson sent a cross through the box to Truckenmiller, who scored her first goal of the season and gave Cumberlands a 3-0 lead. 20 minutes later, Bryan defender Makenzie Heiss found her way downfield to take a quick shot inside the box, only to be saved by Nicole Panis, keeping the Lions off the scoreboard. With 16:16 remaining in the second half, Harris dribbled through the Bryan midfield and past the defense to shoot a top-shelf rocket off the crossbar and into the goal, scoring her first goal of the season and UC's final goal of the night. Panis and the Cumberlands backline held off the Lions for the remainder of the game to earn their third shutout of the season.

Cumberlands women's soccer returns to the field Wednesday, September 11, as they travel to Indianapolis, IN to take on the Marian Knights. Kickoff is set for 6:00 pm. Live stream will be available here, and live stats will be available here.
