Addison, IL - The UC men's bowling team got back to the lanes for the first time in 2020 competing in the Kegel/ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic. It was a two day tournament with five individual games on day one followed by 20 bakers games on day two. As a team, the Patriots tallied 4,937 pins on the first day and followed that up with a 3,778 pin performance for the second day of competition. Their combined score earned them 17th place out of 75 teams for the USBC Tier 1 tournament.
Martin Methodist was the only MSC team to outpace Cumberlands by knocking down 8,868 pins, good enough for 14th place. First place belonged to St. Ambrose who recorded a total of 9,492 pins.
UC's finish in the top 1/4 of the field was large in part due to the performance of sophomore,
Bryce Frantz. The Louisville, KY native finished in 21st place as an individual on day one knocking down 1,079 pins. Frantz' score was the highest of any MSC competitor at the tournament. He averaged 215.8 pins over the course of the five games with his best performance coming in game two with a score of 236.
Thomas McNeal also performed well for the Patriots, tying two others for 32nd place. The sophomore tallied 1,059 total pins averaging 211.8 pins over the fve games. McNeal's finish was good enough for third best among MSC schools only getting beat by teammate Frantz and Jackson Stiles from Martin Methodist who earned 22nd place.
Aaron Warner,
Charles Wilken, and Joshua Williams all competed for UC as individuals on day one and all earned a place in the top 165 bowlers. Warner knocked down 950 pins for 135th place, Wilken tallied 925 pins tying him for 159th place and Joshua Williams recorded 924 pins tying him for 161st place.
UC will not have to wait long for their next competition since they head to Cincinnati, OH for the two day Cincinnati Collegiate Classic on January 25-26.
