Boca Raton, FL – The 17
th-ranked UC women's tennis team faced their toughest test of the season so far as they fell to second-ranked Keiser 6-1 Friday afternoon at Patch Reef Park. With the win the Seahawks improve to 3-0 on the year, while Cumberlands fall to 0-2.
Tomomi Nagao, the fifth-ranked singles player, posted UC's lone win of the match as she defeated Dugleisy Linarez in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 at #1 singles. Nagao improves to 2-0 on the season.
At #3 singles,
Hana Shimeno won the first set 6-4 over Anais Ruyssen. Ruyssen rallied in the second set, before ultimately taking the third set 10-7 to win the point for the Seahawks.
Keiser won all three doubles, including 6-3 wins at #1 and #3 doubles, to win the doubles point and take the early 1-0 lead. The Seahawks also posted straight set wins at #2, #4, #5, and #6 singles for the 6-1 final.
The Patriots will return to the court Sunday, February 9, when they travel to Babson Park, FL to face Webber International University. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
