Rockwell and Navajas Garner Academic All-District Honors

CoSIDA Academic All-District Honorees

Williamsburg, KY- For the second straight season Laura Navajas Marin and Jenna Rockwell earned College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® First Team announced Thursday. This is also the second straight season that multiple Patriots have garnered the award in the same season.

Both Rockwell and Navajas also earned MSC All-Conference honors to go along with their MSC Academic All-Conference awards. Navajas and Rockwell have both been key players in helping the Patriots reach the Mid-South Conference Championship match for the third straight season.

 Navajas, the facilitating midfielder, leads the team and currently ranks 24th in the NAIA with 10 total assists on the year. She has also tallied five goals on the season to go along with her assists. The Miranda de Ebro, Spain native has garnered MSC Academic honors every year that she has been eligible, studying Psychology and Human Services.

Rockwell has been a key player to the Patriot offense during the second half of the season. Playing in more of a forward position, the senior has tallied 10 goals and three assists on the year for a total of 23 points. The London, KY native has garnered MSC Academic All-Conference for three straight years while studying Exercise and Sport Science and Public Health at Cumberlands.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District® team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.Cumberlands is in District 2, which features schools from Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. To be eligible for this award a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher with a minimum GPA of 3.30.  They also have played in at least 50% of its team's games as well as be a contributor on the field. 

Student-athletes who earn First Team Academic All-District honors advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced in early December.

UC led the Mid-South Conference with two earning First Team Academic All-District honors. The MSC tallied a total of three with UC's two along with Adisa Amang from UT Southern.

Cumberlands is set to take on #4 UT Southern on Friday, November 12th in Bowling Green, KY. Kickoff is set for 12:00 PM EST at Warren Central High School. Live streaming of the match can be found here along with live stats here.
