Patriots Finish Third at Brunswick Southern Collegiate Classic

Marietta, GA – The Cumberlands Men's Bowling team had a great weekend at the Brunswick Southern Collegiate Classic placing 3rd overall. The Patriots competed in this two-day tournament against 28 other schools. They played six team games on Saturday and 24 baker games on Sunday.
 
The Patriots had a strong day one in Georgia as they tallied a total of 6087 pins through six games. They averaged 1014.5 pins through these games. Thomas McNeal and Bryce Frantz led UC in the individual games knocking over 1276 and 1273 pins each. The duo placed 15th and 16th individually. McNeal averaged 212.67 pins per game and hit 244 pins in the fifth game of the day for his tournament high. Frantz averaged 212.17 pins and had his best score during game four where he knocked down 235 pins respectively. Cumberlands finished day one in fourth place in the standings.
 
After a strong day one performance, UC performed even better in the baker games totaling 4700 pins to jump up one spot in the final standings. UC averaged 195.83 pins over the 24 games on Sunday. This is the Patriots best finish of the year.
 
Tennessee Southern finished first on the weekend as they knocked over 11,139 pins and was the only MSC team to place ahead of UC. William Paterson University placed second with 10,841 pins just 54 in front of Cumberlands. McKendree University and Savannah College of Art and Design round out the top five with 10,716 and 10,698 respectively.
 
The men will return to the lanes in two weeks as they travel north to Louisville, KY for the Striking Knights Classic. This marks the Patriots first time attending this tournament.
