Women's Indoor Compete in First Meet of the Season

Louisivlle, KY – The women's Indoor Track & Field team had their first full meet of their season on Saturday. They competed in the Cardinal Classic at the University of Louisville where they competed against the University of Louisville, University of Kentucky, Campbellsville, and Eastern Kentucky University.
 
 
Lauren McHan continued her success from the cross country course as she competed in the 3000m run on Saturday. The senior posted a career best time of 10:44.92 for a third-place finish. Kinsey Forgey continued the personal best streak as she ran her new fastest time of 10:57.62 for fifth place. Meredith Elstun, Taylor Warren, and Hannah Hennage rounded out the Patriot runners in this event with sixth, eighth, and tenth place finishes respectively.
 
Alisa Bowling competed in the 800m run where she crossed the finish line in 2:29.79 for third place and a new personal best. Freshman, Ashley Terry also competed in this event for the first time in her young career, finishing fifth with a time of 2:32.54.

Freshman Lauren Sanderson ran her first 1000m run and placed third with a time of 3:12.25. Teammate Morgan Lucason finished fourth in 3:31.63 in her five laps around the track.
 
Cora Stevens ran her first ever 500m and finished fourth after running a time of 1:20.04. Freshman, Nevaeh Warren raced alongside Stevens finishing sixth in a time of 1:29.63 in her first collegiate 500m race.
 
 Kathryn Hunter ran in the 300m dash and posted a new career time of 42.75 for eighth place. Fellow sprinter Ayani Hinson competed in the 200m dash and posted a time of 27.39 for a new best as well.
 
Summer Travis was led the throwers for the Patriots in Louisville as she performed in the Weight Throw and Shot Put. Travis finished sixth in the weight throw after reaching 14.35m in her second attempt. She came in seventh in the shot put after throwing a distance of 11.95m.
 
This was the final meet of the 2021 year for Cumberlands. They look to come back after their winter break and continue their success as they return to Louisville for the Kentucky College Invitational on January 22nd.
