Williamsburg, KY - Ainhoa Camara netted a pair of goals to lead the 18
th-ranked Cumberlands women's soccer team to a 3-1 win over Campbellsville on Saturday afternoon at the UC Soccer Complex. The win gives UC a three-game win-streak over the Tigers dating back to 2018 as the Patriots improve to 6-0 on the season, including a 2-0 mark in conference play. Â
Â
Shining bright for the Patriots were Camara and
Shara Randez. Camara tallied her second career multi-goal game, while Randez notched her team-leading seventh goal of the season. UC goaltender
Laura Vogt was also solid as she noted three saves in the victory.Â
Â
The first chance of the game went the way of the Patriots. In the 13' minute,
Laura Navajas Marin found herself wide open on the right side of the 18-yard box. While on the run, Navajas Marin used her right foot and struck the crossbar keeping the game scoreless. In the 15' minute, Campbellsville got their first scoring opportunity off a corner kick. Tigers forward Rebecca Lilley sent a header just wide from a dangerous location inside the Patriots' defensive box.  Â
Â
In the 24'Â minute, Cumberlands went back on the attack. After a quick Campbellsville turnover, Camara sent a booming kick past goaltender Katelyn Young, to give UC the 1-0 lead. Camara received a perfect pass from
Jayden Boelter and beat Young upstairs on the nearside post. Boelter's helper on the play gives her a share of the team lead with three assists on the season.Â
Â
With just under 10 minutes left to play in the first half,
Laura Vogt was called upon to make an enormous save. Campbellsville attacker Jessie Bryson let a wide-open shot go from the left side of the 18-yard box. Vogt lunged to her left and used both hands to punch the ball away from danger.  In the dying minutes of the first half, Navajas Marin hit her second crossbar of the game. In an almost identical play, Navajas Marin again got herself open and struck the ball with her right foot. The ball nailed the crossbar and deflected out-of-bounds as UC took a 1-0 lead into half time.Â
Â
In the second half, UC wasted no time extending their lead. After receiving a pass from
Sarah Hammerstone, Randez fired an absolute rocket past Young to give the Patriots a 2-0 lead. Randez was positioned in the middle of the field and just outside of the 18-yard box. The goal came in the 52'Â minute of the game as Randez now has 31 career goals.
Â
In the 28
th minute of the second half, Camara added to the Patriots lead with her second goal of the contest.
Alanna Skinner sent a through ball up the field which positioned Camara alone on a breakaway. The sophomore fired a kick on the ground past Young to give UC a 3-0 lead. The marker stands as Camara's third goal of the season. After chances at both ends, Campbellsville would break up the shutout bid for Vogt with just three minutes left in regulation.Â
Â
UC is one win away from tying their best start since 2018, when they  began the year with a 7-0 record. Cumberlands will look to stay hot as they travel to Columbia, KY to face #11 Lindsey Wilson on Tuesday, February 23 for a 4 PM kickoff. Live stats for the game can be found
