Patriots Take First Place In Thomas Burris Memorial

The Patriots men's bowling team notched a total of 6,844 pins to capture first place in the Thomas Burris Memorial, on Sunday in Louisville. The tournament win is Cumberlands second on the year and the third regular season win in program history. 
 
Following a lights out performance on Sunday, Thomas McNeal found himself on the podium. McNeal finished second overall in the tournament after he knocked down a total of 1,230 pins while posting an average of 246 pins per game. McNeal recorded a near flawless score of 278 pins during his third game of the afternoon. The junior, McNeal, finished just four pins short of first place. 
 
Liam McNamara turned in the best performance of his career after he hit a total of 1,193 pins. The freshman, McNamara, earned himself a fourth overall ranking after he notched an average pin-count of 238.6 pins per game. McNamara's best work of the day came when he knocked down 264 pins during his fourth game. 
 
Bryce Frantz posted a final score of 1,169 pins to receive a sixth overall ranking in the event. During his second game of the day, Frantz bowled an impressive score of 275 pins. Across five games on Sunday, Frantz recorded an average pin-count of 233.8 pins. 
 
AJ Warner and Charles Wilken also saw action for Cumberlands. Warner recorded a total of 1,035 pins and an average of 207 pins on the day. Wilken chipped in 1,012 pins with his best performance coming during his third game when he scored 234 pins.
 
During the baker portion of the event, the Patriots posted the highest score of any team with 1,205 pins. UC's best work came during game four when Cumberlands recorded a total of 277 pins. 
 
The tournament win is the second time the Patriots have won in Louisville this season. Back on October 24, Cumberlands took first place out of eight schools in the MSC Preseason Fall Invitational. 
 
In total, thirteen schools from the Mid-South Conference competed in the event. The tournament was formatted in which each school played five team games and five baker-style games. The event is the final meeting of the MSC regular season. 
 
Cumberlands will be back on the lanes on March 12, in Bowling Green, KY for the Mid-South Conference Tournament.
