UC Men's Tennis Posts Their Fourth Shutout Of The Season Against Tigers

Campbellsville, KY – With their fourth shutout victory of the year, the #14 UC men's tennis team extended their win streak to eight games with the 7-0 win against the Campbellsville University Tigers on Wednesday afternoon. Following the win, the Patriots move to a perfect 8-0 overall and 1-0 in MSC play.

Martin Barbier and Eric Banoub continued their dominant #1 doubles performances winning their match against Matus Sevcik and Yuto Shimotsuii at 6-0. After tonight's victory, Barbier and Banoub sit at 7-1 in #1 doubles, which includes their current seven-match win streak. The Patriots dropped their #2 doubles match at 6-1 but picked up the slack in #3 doubles. Martin Muller and Robert Wu Hung-Ju grabbed the doubles point for Cumberlands as they defeated Mario Sanchez and Grayson Cullen 6-3, and gave UC the early 1-0 advantage going into singles play.

In the #1 singles spot, Barbier resumed his dominant play as he took down Raul Safont in just two sets at 6-4, 6-2 to extend the Patriots match lead to 2-0. Next up at the #2 singles spot for Cumberlands was Muller, who smoked Sevick in two sets at 6-4, 6-2, and widened the UC lead to 3-0. Bouncing back for his loss on Sunday, Luis Montull ultimately secured the match for the Patriots at 4-0 as he went on to defeat Sanchez at 6-4, 6-2 in the #3 singles match. Mattis Le Montagner and Banoub continued the Cumberlands shutout as they both won their #4 and #5 singles matches against Nicholas Weisner and Shimotsuii at 6-3, 6-3, and 6-1, 6-0 to enlarge the UC lead to 5-0. Finishing the day for the Patriots was Wu Hung-Ju in the #6 singles spot as he handily beat Nicolas Verdu 6-4, 6-1. With the doubles point and six singles wins, Cumberlands walked out of Campbellsville with the 7-0 shutout win.  

The Patriots will return to the court on Saturday, March 13 to take on Bethel University in McKenzie, TN. First serve is set for 2:00 PM.
