Pikeville, KY - The UC men's soccer team tallied a season-high five goals as the Patriots defeated Pikeville 5-0 Sunday afternoon. With the win the Patriots improve to 5-5-2 overall and 5-2-1 in conference play.
Milan Stojanovic led the Patriots with three points after tallying a goal and an assist in the game, while Aleksander Mirkovic and
Liam Healey each added a goal. Also scoring for the Patriots were
Stephen Appiah in addition to
Rodrigo Riveros.
Sergio Infantes Castell dished out a pair of assists in the win. Making his first career start,
Ingmar Struck earn the win in goal for UC.
UC notched three goals in the first half, which was a season-best for the Patriots. Cumberlands was in control of the game right from the start firing off three shots in the first seven minutes of play. UC broke the scoreless tie in the 17' as
Sergio Infantes Castell sent a corner kick into the box connected with Mirkovic, who headed it in for the goal to give Cumberlands the 1-0 lead. For Mirkovic it was his second goal in the last three games. The Patriots looked to extend their lead as
Enrique Pinanez sent a rocket towards the goal, however in was deflected off the crossbar. Seven minutes later,
Joel Drewery sent a cross into the middle of the field, Infantes Castell passed it back to
Liam Healey, who blasted a shot into the back of the net to extend UC's lead to 2-0 with 13:57 remaining. Two minutes later, Stojanovic put a well-placed shot past the keeper for his first goal of the season, while extending UC's lead to 3-0. The Patriots added two more shots on frame, but couldn't convert leaving the game 3-0 at the break.
Pikeville looked to cut into the lead in the second half but Coby Fields shot clinked off the cross bar. Cumberlands also add a shot deflect of the crossbar minutes later. The score remained 3-0 until the 62' while Stojanovic sent a cross into the box connected with Riveros who made a diving header to score the goal. That mark the first collegiate goal for the Asuncion, Paraguay native. Cumberlands continued their strong play outshooting the Bears 6-0 over the final 29 minutes of action. As time winded down

The Patriots outshot Pikeville 23-2 in the game and notched seven corner kicks.
Cumberlands will stay on the road for their next contest against the Bears of Shawnee State. The game is slated for a 4 PM kickoff on Tuesday, March 16. Live stats can be found
