Williamsburg, KY – The #14 UC men's tennis team posted their seventh shutout of the season at 7-0 versus Thomas More on Sunday afternoon at the UC Tennis Complex. Following the win, the Patriots move to 11-1 overall and undefeated at 4-0 in MSC play.
Cumberlands started the day out with everything working as they were able to sweep all three doubles matches, which included a 6-0 shutout performed by Martin Barbier and Eric Banboub in the #1 doubles spot. With the early 1-0 lead in match play, UC kept their foot on the gas all throughout singles play.
Five of the six singles matches all resulted in just two-set wins for Cumberlands until Martin Muller went deep in the #2 singles match with a three-set battle against Fernando Martin Paz at 6-4, 2-6, 6-1, but still managed to pull out the win. In his first singles match of the season, Christian De La Fuente Nodado dominated Casey Vicars in the #6 spot taking the victory in just two sets with a score of 6-1, 6-0. With all six singles victories in-hand, the Patriots were able to walk away with the 7-0 sweep against the Saints.
The Patriots will return to the court for their matchup against Georgetown College at the UC Tennis Complex on Monday, March 29 at 4:00 PM.
