Montreat, NC – Women's track & field noted four of top-eight finishers in the second meet of the season. All four placers took sixth or better,
Jenna Grogan being the lone competitor to note a top-10 NAIA time.
Grogan, coming off a showing at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships, placed fifth in the 5,000-meter racewalk. Her time of 32:00.79 was almost two minutes of improvement from her previous showing, opening the season at the Rams College Invitational last week with a time of 33:54.12.
Also competing last week,
Rachel Gallison posted a first-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:40.86. The time continues to hold as the best time in the NAIA as well.
Cora Stevens and Hailey Martin scored together in the 400-meter hurdles, placing fifth and sixth. The duo crossed the line at 1:08.85 and 1:09.13 respectively in the second heat. Stevens notched her best performance since the 2019 MSC Championships, and the 2019 Montreat Invitational before that.
Summer Travis began the season with a pair of top finishes, climbing her way to the placement in shot put and hammer, fifth and sixth. A toss of 11.41 meters got her a spot in the final shot put flight, leading to a best mark for the day of 11.65 meters in her final attempt. The day before, she registered her best attempt in her first swing of the season, 43.04 meters down field.
Cumberlands women's track and field scored 18 team points through their four top-eight showings. They placed 17th of 28 teams at the invitational, finishing in the top-ten of NAIA schools.
Trinity Sherrod narrowly missed scoring position with a ninth-place finish in pole vault. She cleared 2.80 meters in two attempts for a new personal best across the indoor and outdoor seasons, beating out her previous mark of 2.65 meters.
Travis rounded out her weekend showing with an 11th place finish in discus, tossing 33.89 meters. The mark registered as her second best measure of her career, best since the Cumberlands Invitational in 2018.
The 4x100-meter relay team Clocked 53.18 seconds around the lap, finishing 15th. The foursome of Hailey Martin,
Raegan Granville,
Ayani Hison and Serenity Bailey formed the relay.

On Friday, Cumberlands will travel to Oak Ridge, TN for the Good Friday Challenge hosted by Tennessee Wesleyan. The following weekend they will return to Tennessee for Lee University's Flames Invite.
