Williamsburg, KY – In an intense battle through all of singles and doubles play against the #19 Grace College Lancers, the #14 Patriots men's tennis team remains undefeated on the year as they walked away with the win on Thursday afternoon at the UC Tennis Complex. With the win, Cumberlands improves their win-streak to five as they are now 5-0 on the year overall.

To start the day, Martin Barbier and Eric Banoub, who are still ranked as the #6 duo in the nation, defeated Pavle Popovic and Facundo Paredes at 6-4 to take the #1 doubles match. The Patriots dropped the #2 doubles match at 6-4, but were able to rally back and win the #3 doubles in two sets as Luis Montull and Mattis Le Montagner snatched the 7-6, 7-1 win against Mauricio Corty and Ivan Antinori. With the doubles win, UC took the early 1-0 match lead over the Lancers.

Once again, Barbier started singles play off at the #1 spot for Cumberlands as he was able to beat David Sandi in just two sets at 6-3, 6-2, and had UC go up 2-0 for the match. Barbier remains undefeated on the year in #1 singles play with a perfect record of 5-0. The Patriots dropped the #2 singles match, which still had the Lancers trailing with a match score of 2-1, but UC regained their footing back in the #3 singles match. Montull, who also remains undefeated at #3 singles, took Paredes to 3 sets and grabbed the win at 6-4, 7-5, 6-3 to give Cumberlands the advantage at 3-1. Montagner was able to secure the match win for the Patriots at 4-1 with his #4 singles win when he took down Fabricio Galvan at 7-6, 7-5. For the last two singles matches of the day, Banoub and Robert Wu Hung-Ju notched wins at the #5 and #6 spots against Ramiro Candia and Popovic at 6-4, 6-2, and 6-2, 4-6, and 6-0 respectively. Following those wins, UC seized their fifth win of the season with the match score sitting at 6-1.
