Owensboro, KY – The #15 UC women's tennis kept things rolling as they posted a 4-1 win over Cumberland University with the doubles point and three singles wins on Saturday afternoon for the semifinal round of the MSC Tournament. Following the win at Centre Court, the Patriots improve to 19-2 overall.

The first to finish doubles play was Tessa Gray and Laura Marie in the #2 spot as they shut out Joana Bou and Ksenija Dmitrovic at 6-0 to take the advantage. Despite putting up a hard fight, UC would go on to drop the #1 doubles match that tied it up for the doubles point, but Johanna Beckmann and Satsuki Mitani would come through big for the Patriots as they won the #3 spot at 7-5 against Marcela Cordeiro and Ana Maria Collazos that gave Cumberlands the 1-0 match advantage heading into singles play. 

Marie would go on to continue her stellar day for UC as she took down Carly Earnhardt in two sets that extended the Patriots lead to 2-0. Cumberlands dropped the #2 singles match that put the score at 2-1 with UC still in the lead. However, this minor setback did not stop the Patriots as Mitani won her #6 singles match in two sets against Alexandra Leisbach that, once again, widened Cumberlands lead to 3-1. Beckmann would be the hero of the day for the UC as she defeated Dmitrovic at 6-2, 6-2 to take the match for the Patriots at 4-1. With the match already clinched, the #1 and #4 singles matches went unfinished.

Cumberlands returns to the court tomorrow for the MSC Final on Sunday, April 18 as they will face the winner of Lindsey Wilson/Campbellsville at 12:30 P.M. in Owensboro, KY.
