Williamsburg, KY – The Patriots tallied another pair of MSC titles on the final day of competition to bring the tally to five at the conference championships.
Lisa Voyles doubled up on titles, added an individual honor on Monday.
Voyles clocked a B-standard in the 800 meters, finishing with a time of 2:15.78. The time was good enough for an MSC title, the first of her outdoor career.
Lauren McHan followed behind with a 2:25.05 showing for fifth place.
Voyles previously led a trio of Patriots in the 1500 meters; she took second-team all-conference honors with a time of 4:44.12.
Rachel Gallison and McHan also scored for Cumberlands in fifth and sixth.
The first MSC title of the day went to
Jenna Grogan. Taking on the 5,000-meter racewalk, the second-year Patriot has continued to improve with a new season best, notching a B-standard time of 28:50.23.
Hailey Martin closed out her season with a runner-up finish in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking 1:07.57 for conference honors. She was closely followed by
Cora Stevens in fourth, 1:08.24 around the lap. Martin previously noted a sixth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, placing sixth. Down the straight, she clocked 16.30 seconds.
Cumberlands finished third overall in the championships, scoring 144 team points. Life University won their first outdoor conference title with 217 points scored.
Gallison,
Taylor Warren and McHan also went on to place in the 5,000 meters. Gallison worked up from the back for 12 and a half laps, noting a 19:10.62 finish and fourth place. Warren checked in across the finish shortly after, 19:23.97 and fifth. McHan ran alone in the first heat, her time of 19:43.03 held on as the seventh-place time.
At shot put,
Summer Travis followed a scoring finish in hammer on Sunday with another. She placed sixth overall with a best mark of 12.05 meters in her second toss of the day. To cap the day, Travis placed fourth again in discus with a best mark of 33.89 meters to advance to the finals, where she improved to 35.71 meters, a new career best for the senior.
Lydia Le'Det scored in the triple jump, placing seventh with her best leap of 10.34 meters.
In the 400 meters,
Megan McMannon kept her ground and finished seventh in the finals. She posted her best time in the prelims of 1:00.14, seeded seventh ahead of Monday's heat. The junior clocked 1:00.59 around the lap.
Kathryn Hunter contributed to the Patriots team scores with an eight-place finish in the 100 meters to cap her championship appearance. Down the stretch, she clocked 12.58 seconds. She doubled down with an eighth place finish in the 200 meters as well, racing 26.12 seconds around the turn.
Capping her two days of appearances in the heptathlon, Des Linville, scored 2,225 points for eighth place. She consistently finished eighth or better in each of the seven events.
