Montreat, NC – Taking a pair of standards,
Lisa Voyles led the way for the Patriots at the Montreat Last Chance meet, in preparation for the NAIA Championships ahead.
The second-year Patriot placed second overall in both the 800 and 1,500 meters on Friday, recording B-cuts in both events as well. After a gold and silver finish at the MSC Championships two weeks ago, Voyles improved her times in both events even further. In the 800, Voyles recorded a new career best time of 2:14.52, improving by a second. She improved by another second in the 1,500 meters to 4:43.01.
Rachel Gallison recorded a second-place finish as well, proving talented in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. She clocked 11:34.56 around the track, followed by
Lauren McHan at 11:37.29 in third.
Thrower
Summer Travis recorded her second-best collegiate mark in hammer, tossing 46.63 meters on her sixth and final attempt of the day. She noted a 44.83 mark to earn a spot in the finals flight, finishing the day fourth overall.
Jenna Grogan took her talents to the 5,000 meter racewalk, recording her second-fastest season time of 30:02.46.
Cora Stevens paced 1:08.36 around the lap in the 400-meter hurdles, a second off her career best set at the MSC Championships.
In the 100-meter dash,
Kathryn Hunter placed fifth overall with a new collegiate best time of 12.59 seconds. She went on to post a 26.51-second finish in the 200 for eighth place.
