Day 1 Results

Yorktown, IN- UC men's golf holds the seventh spot on the leaderboard following round one of the Players Club Invitational. The Patriots tallied a team score of 305 (+17), three strokes behind fifth place.

In the nine-team tournament, the Patriots' performance landed them near the middle of the pack after the first 18 holes. Taylor University leads the tournament with a day one score of 280 (-8), followed by Indiana Wesleyan and Spring Arbor who recorded scores of 293 (+5) and 295 (+7), respectively.

Pacing the Patriots in the first round was Jarryd Elliott, who carded a 73 (+1), landing him in a three-way tie for eighth overall. The sophomore recorded a pair of birdies in the back nine, before tacking on one more on the 3rd hole.

The Patriots have a trio of golfers who remain in the top 20 as well. Imanol Camba sits ties for 11^th after shooting an 18 hole score of 74 (+2). A stroke behind Camba were teammates Gustav Barden and Jaime Crispi who tallied scores of 75 (+3), tying them for 17th. Barden recorded two birdies while Crispi was able to record four. Crispi is playing as an individual in the tournament.

Rounding out the team score was Juan Murube and Luis Ruiz. Murube shot a score of 83 (+11) and sits tied for 46^th. Ruiz was able to shoot a score of 86 (+14) and sits alone at 53^rd.  

UC will return to Yorktown, IN tomorrow, Saturday, September 11^th for the final round of the Players Club Invitational.
