Johnson City, TN - The Patriots men's golf team sits in first place after they shot a team score of 293 (+5) during Monday's first round at the East Tennessee Collegiate Tournament at the Johnson City Country Club. Four UC golfers found themselves on the top-10 individual leaderboard at the end of play on Monday.
The best performance of the day goes to
Jarryd Elliot, who posted a first-round score of 70 (-2) to sit in second place overall on the individual leaderboard. Elliot was able to notch an eagle on the third hole. He also sank four birdies on the day as well. Elliot's first round score is his lowest on the season so far.
Sitting tied for fifth after day one is
Gustav Barden. Barden carded a 73 (+1) for the first 18-holes of the tournament. Barden tallied four birdies on the round, with three of those birdies coming on the back-nine. The sophomore finished with a 33 (-3) for those nine holes.
Teammates
Imanol Camba and
Juan Murube both sit within the top-10 after day one, as both are currently sitting at tied for ninth in the tournament. Camba, the junior from Bilbao, Spain, shot a 75 (+3) on the day. He recorded two birdies on the front nine and was able to shoot for par on 11 of his 18 holes on the day. Murube also recorded a 75 (+3) on day one. He recorded birdies on hole one and three of the tournament, as well as on hole 17 as well.
Jaime Crispi, who is competing as an individual, is currently sitting at tied for 15
th after day one of the East Tennessee Collegiate Tournament. He tallied a score of 76 (+4) through the first 18-holes. He shot well on the back nine as he recorded two birdies and was able to shoot a 35 (-1) for the nine holes.
As a team, the Patriots hold a three stroke lead over Milligan University as they head into the final round of the East Tennessee Collegiate on Tuesday in Johnson City, TN.
