Cincinnati, OH – The UC men's bowling team finish fifth after the first day of competition at the MSC Cincinnati Classic on Saturday. This two-day event features five team games on day one and four team games on the final day. There were 22 teams competing on Saturday 12 of which were in the Mid-South Conference.
 
Cumberlands came out of the gate strong as they tallied 933 pins over their first team game. Game two proved even better for the Pats as they put together a 978 pin performance but they weren't done yet. The best game of the day came in the final frame where five bowlers combined for 1027 pins to put them at 4758 on the day. They averaged 951.6 pins on the day.
 
Seniors Bryce Frantz and Austin Montgomery led the way for UC on Saturday posting top-11 finishes each. Frantz knocked over 1007 pins through five games for an average of 201.4 per game and had the second highest score in game three with a 242. Montgomery finished right on his teammates tail after tallying 1006 pins for an average of 201.2. His best performance came straight away in game one where he hit 231 pins.
 
Lindenwood University was the front runner through five games after they totaled an impressive 4976 pins. Tennessee Southern followed close behind with a score of 4964 while Tennessee Wesleyan finished third, knocking down 4906 pins. St. Francis (IL) was the only other team in front of the Pats on Saturday as they tallied 4781 for fourth place.
 
The Patriots look to get out to another fast start tomorrow and push themselves ever further up the final rankings during the final four games. Practice starts at 8:45 with the games right after. No spectators will be allowed in the event on Sunday.
