Bowling Green, KY – Summer Travis earned Mid-South Conference Field Athlete of the Week honors for the first time this season, and third in her career as a Patriot. She competed in the weight throw and shot put events in Louisville, KY on Friday during the Tiger Paw Invitational.
 
Travis made history for Cumberlands as the first women to ever qualify for indoor nationals in the weight throw. She hit a distance of 16.02m in this event placing first and breaking the previous school record of 14.92m by over one meter. This performance garnered a national "B" cut for the Piketon, OH native.
 
The senior also won the women's shot put on Friday. This is the second week in a row that Summer has swept first place finishes in these throwing events. She increased her best throw from last week, recording a distance of 12.21m.
 
Travis and the Patriots will return to the field this weekend as they head to Winston-Salem, NC for the Camel City Invitational. This is a two day meet, starting on Friday.
