Silvis, IL- In their fourth tournament of the Fall 2022 season, the Patriots women's golf team brings home their second first place trophy after competing in the TPC Deere Run Invitational Monday afternoon. The team shot a combined score of 324 (+36) to finish atop the leader board in the tournament, which was shorten to 18 holes due to inclement weather. Cumberlands shot 10 strokes ahead of #3 Dalton State, who garnered second place.  

Leading the way for the team was Maria Neira with a score of 78 (+6). Neira is coming off a successful weekend on the greens in the Pats latest outing at the Eagle Match Play Invitational. During her round of 18, Neira carded two birdies on holes 4 and 6, each of which were par 4's. She tied for third with Olivia Lange out of William Penn University and Zoe Wuermli from Northwestern Ohio.

Behind Neira is Sharon Holczer. Holzcer garnered a score of 79 (+7) during her round with 14 shots on par. Holzcer is tied for 6^th place with competitors from Cumberland and Truett McConnel. She is followed by Viviane Braun who earned 21^st place in the tournament with a score of 83 (+11). She was able to notch birdies on holes one and two to open the day.

Rounding out the team for the Patriots was Ginevra Capo and Elena Hortian. Capo sat one stroke behind Braun with a score of 84 (+2) and tied for 22^nd. Hortian ended up tying for 77^th place with a score of 94 (+22).

Cumberlands competed against 13 teams that were ranked or receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches poll, including five that are ranked in the top-ten; #3 Dalton State, #5 Indiana Wesleyan, #6 Cumberland, #7 William Carey, and #9 Taylor University. Thus far in the season, it is the toughest competition that the Pats have faced, making this win their biggest yet.

Cumberlands will compete again at the Mid-South Conference Fall Championships October 24^th and 25^th in Bowling Green, KY.  This is the first of two championships that will help determine the MSC regular season champion.
