Patriots Sweep MSC Weekly Awards For The Second Time This Year

Bowling Green, KY – The Patriots swept the Mid-South players of the week awards for the second time this season. Allyson Grava took home attacker of the week, Kendall Arnold took home setter of the week, and Juliet Banks took home defender of the week.

Attacker of the Week

In the second straight week, the Goodlettsville, TN native led the Patriots offense, as she put up 52 kills to go along with her 31 digs and five aces. She started her week off with a double-double against Georgetown. In that match, Grava put up 19 kills and 12 digs. She followed that performance with a 13-kill game in a sweep over Kentucky Christian. She also put in three aces as well. Grava ended the week the way she started it, tallying another double-double. This time she notched 20 kills and 11 digs in a match against Union. Grava put in two aces in the match as well.

For the season, Grava leads the Pats in kills with 389, and that mark moved her into the Volleyball Record Books. At 389 kills this season she is in 4th place in kills in a season. She also put in 30 aces. On defense, Grava has 286 digs and 35 blocks, with seven of them being solo.

Setter of the Week

Arnold takes home her third Setter of the week honors this season. This week the Leb, TN native notched 120 assists at 10.90 assists per set, while notching two double-doubles. Arnold started the week off with 40 assists, 10 digs, and two aces in a win over Georgetown. Then in a sweep over Kentucky Christian, she put in 32 assists, five digs, and two kills. Arnold ended her week with another double-double as she notched 48 assists and 16 digs against Union. In that game she also put in five kills and four aces.

Arnold has put in 850 assists this season. She also 228 digs to go along with her 29 kills, 27 aces, and 15 blocks.

Defender of the Week

For the fourth time this season, Banks earned defender of the week. The Scottsburg, IN native tallied 68 digs as she surpassed 1000 career digs. Banks started the week with a 19-dig performance in the win over the Tigers. Then she added another 19 digs in the sweep over the Knights. Banks ended her weekend with a 30-dig performance that pushed her past 1000 digs.

On the season, Banks has totaled 524 digs, to go along with her 53 assists, 27 service aces, and three kills.

The Patriots are 19-7 on the season and will be on the road for two games this season. Cumberlands will start in Wilmore, KY to take on Asbury on October 25th at 6:30 pm. Then on the 28th, they head to Crestview Hills to take on Thomas More at 6 pm.
