Bowling Green, KY- The 23
rd- ranked Cumberlands Patriots finish off the MSC Fall Championships tied for third place, just one stroke behind Campbellsville who got third place. The Pats worked their way back climbing five places in just one round of 18 this afternoon.
William Ekeroth lead the way for the Patriots, finishing the tournament in seventh place. Coming into the day, Ekeroth was tied for 28
th with a combined score of 153 (+9) after rounds one and two. In his final round of the tournament, the freshman carded a 67 (-5), the best score of any golfer who has competed under Head Coach
Aaron Watkins. Ekeroth notched five birdies, and one eagle in the final round of 18 to earn 7
th place.
Behind Ekeroth was
Imanol Camba who tied for 10
th. Camba carded a 74 (+2) on the final round of 18
th, which was his second best round of the weekend. He shot a 73 (+3) in yesterday's second round, tying Ekeroth for the best day one score. Last year, Camba finished the invitational tied for 29
th. The graduate student was able to knock that score out of the water and finish second on the team.
Rounding out the team score was Hampus Nilsson and
Gustav Barden. Barden finished the tournament tied for 31
st, carding a 77 (+5) on the final round. The Junior shot four birdies during the tournament, three of which came in the second round. Nilsson eared 35
th place after shooting hisbest score 73 (+1) of the tournament this afternoon.
Also competing for the Cumberlands was
Jarryd Elliott, Jaime Crispi and Pedro Morgado. Crispi finished the tournament tied for 13
th. His lowest score 74 (+2) came in round one of the tournament, but he carded three birdies on the second and third rounds. Elliott finished the tournament in 47
th place and Morgado tied for 51
st.
This concludes the fall season for the men's golf team. They will pick back up in the Spring of 2023 on February 27
th.
