Williamsburg, KY – The #24 Patriots women's basketball team utilized a balanced effort and consistent play over all four quarters to earn a 69-62 win over Lindsey Wilson Saturday afternoon on Randy Vernon Court. With the win, UC improves to 9-3 overall, 4-3 in conference play and remain unbeaten at home.
Kaylie Monday lead the way with 17 points and four rebounds, while
Kassie Monday,
Channing Lewis, and
Lakin Burke all chipped in 10 points each.
Kassie Monday dished out a game-high seven assists, while Lewis and Burke combined for 13 rebounds in the win. As a team the Patriots went 15-19 from the charity stripe, including going 11-11 in the first half.
UC jumped in front early as
Whitney Caldwell found
Victory Fredricks in the paint for a layup on the opening possession. Three minutes later,
Joy Kendrick connected with Burke for a layup putting UC in front 6-3. That was the start of six straight Patriots points by the freshman giving the Patriots a 10-7 edge with 4:26 left in the first quarter.
Kaylie Monday and
Kassie Monday combined for UC final seven points of the opening quarter, however, Lindsey Wilson outscored UC 11-7 to take a one-point lead, 18-17.
Jordyn Stephens converted a pair of free throws to put the Blue Raiders ahead 20-17, their largest lead of the game. The Patriots responded as
Jaiden Cox grabbed an offensive rebound and put it home as part of four straight points. After the lead changed twice, Lewis hit a jumper before Cox intercepted a pass and laid it in on the fastbreak giving UC a 30-27 edge. Lewis added four more points in the closing minutes as Cumberlands took a 35-33 lead into the break.
Cox opened the third quarter with a layup before Lindsey scored five straight points to take a 38-37 lead. On the next Patriots possession

Kaylie Monday, who hit from long range, to spark 11 unanswered points by UC.
Kaylie Monday and
Lakin Burke combined for all 11 points giving the Patriots a 48-38 lead with 2:50 remaining. Lindsey Wilson went on a 6-2 run, before
Brittni Allison converted a pull-up jumper to put UC in front 52-44 heading into the fourth quarter.
Just over a minute into the fourth quarter, Lewis found
Kassie Monday for a three-point play before Monday returned the favor extending the lead to 59-48 with 6:12 left. Lindsey Wilson went on a 7-3 run, over a two-minute span, however,
Destiny Haworth drained a three to push the lead back to double-figures with 3:47 remaining. The Blue Raiders went on a 6-1 run, however, UC answered with
