Bowling Green, KY - The Patriots men's bowling team was eliminated in the third round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament Friday afternoon. These matchups are a double elimination, best of seven baker style games, meaning the first team to win four will advance to the next round. Today's two losses marks the end of the Patriots season unless they earn an at-large bid to the national tournament.
 
The Cumberlands were the number three seed coming into the tournament, as that is where they finished in the regular season rankings. Their first match of the day came against 14^th ranked Lindsey Wilson. UC took the first round 4-1, dropping the first game 177-221 then winning four straight, 184-179, 225-181, 167-156, and 208-188.
 
In the second round the Patriots squared off against number six Midway, in which they took their first loss of the day. Midway jumped ahead to a two to zero lead with scores of 191-164 and 202-159. UC would fight back winning the third with a score of 212-234 before Midway took the final two games 232-179 and 210-135. This would send the Pats to the loser's bracket for the remainder of the tournament.
 
Cumberlands third contest of the day would not prove any better as they took the loss without winning a game against Cumberland University. The Phoenix took the first two games 167-146 and 224-187. They finished the series with scores of 158-150 204-174.
 
First ranked Tennessee Southern is the lone team left in the winner's bracket after defeating Midway in the fifth round today. Pikeville and Tennessee Wesleyan will play Saturday morning for a spot in the loser's bracket finals against Midway.
