UC Men's Golf Finishes in Sixth at the Showdown of Legends

Myrtle Beach, SC- Competing for the first time since November, the Patriots men's golf team finished in sixth place overall at the Showdown of Legends tournament through 54 holes on Monday and Tuesday. UC finished with a combined score of 936 through three rounds, which was 11 strokes behind fifth.

Leading the way for Cumberlands through their first tournament was senior Juan Murube. The Seville, Spain native clubbed a three round score of 233 (+17) to earn a share of 17th on the individual leaderboard. Murube's best round came on day two of the tournament where he carded a 75 (+3), which was three strokes better than his next best round. Over the tournament the senior tallied eight birdies, which was the most by any Patriot.

Gustav Barden earned a share of 21st on the individual leaderboard after carding a three round score of 235 (+19). Barden's best round came on day two of the tournament, where he clubbed a 74 (+2) to jump into the top-25 of the tournament. The sophomore started round three carding back-to-back bogeys before tallying nine straight pars. On hole 15 of the course, the Karlstad, Varmland native only needed four strokes to reach the pin on the 543 yard par five.

Jarryd Elliott also finished amongst the top-25 on the individual leaderboard, garnering a share of 25th overall. The sophomore's best round came on day one of the tournament, where he carded a 77 (+5) during round one of the Showdown at Legends. The Witbank, South Africa native tallied five birdies and 31 pars to finish with a three round score of 237 (+21).

Competing for the first time since the fall of 2019, Tyler Hart improved over three rounds to finish with a final score of 238 (+22). His best round came during round three, where he carded a 72 (E). The sophomore finished with three birdies across 54 holes to earn a share of 27th on the individual leaderboard.

Rounding out the top-five for UC was junior Imanol Camba. The Bilbao, Spain native finished with a combined three round score of 241 (+25) to finish in 32nd. Camba improved in every round of the tournament and finished with a third round score of 76 (+4) to jump into the top-35 on day two.

Jaime Crispi, who was competing as an individual, finished tied for 27th on the individual leaderboard. The freshman opened the tournament with a 75 (+3), which was his best round of the tournament. Over the course of 54 holes, Crispi carded five birdies and 30 pars to finish amongst the top-30 at the Showdown at Legends tournament.

 Cumberlands will look to build off this tournament in three weeks for the BMC Spring Golf Classic at Old Waverly in West Point, MS.
