Smyrna, TN – The Patriots men's bowling team competed in the first day of USBC team sectionals on Saturday. Day one consisted of 20 teams competing in 32 baker games, all looking for a chance to make USBC finals. UC sits in tenth place heading into the last day.

Cumberlands started off the morning slow, as they were in 15
th through the first half of games. They started with two games above 190 but did not bowl above a 200 until the 14
th game of the day. Through 16 games the Patriots had a total pinfall of 2804.

The second half of the day proved much better for Cumberlands, as they battled all the way back to a top-ten finish on the day. They started the afternoon slate with back-to-back games over 200 and bowled three more before the day was over. Their best performance came in game the 30
th game with a score of 254.

The Patriots finished the day with a pinfall of 5880 for a tenth-place finish heading into Sunday. SCAD Savannah is in first place with 6609 pins, while MSC foe Tennessee Wesleyan is in second with 6357. Indiana Institute of Technology rounds out the top three with 6322.

The final day will begin at 7:45 with 32 more baker games to find out the qualifiers for USBC finals. The Patriots look to continue to push up the standings for a qualifying finish.
