Results
Kennesaw, GA – UC traveled down to Kennesaw State University for day one of the Don McGarey Invitational. This meet featured 12 teams from all levels of competition. Two top-ten finishes highlight the Patriots day one performances.
All-American
Jullia Morris posted an eighth-place finish in the long jump Friday afternoon. She set a new personal best jump of 5.28m in her first attempt of the day. Teammate
Lydia Le'Det also competed in this event, finishing with a 4.56m best jump.
Kinsey Forgey also posted an eighth-place finish, as she ran in her first 5k of the outdoor season. Forgey paced a 20:04.61 finishing time, just two seconds behind the seventh-place finisher.
Lauren McHan was the first of ten Patriot finishers in the 1500m run in Kennesaw. McHan posted a 5:02.53 finish for 12
th.
Taylor Warren finished in a new personal best time of 5:08.92, placing 16
th.
Ashley Terry crossed the finish line just one second after Warren for a 5:09.60 time, also a personal best.
Meredith Elstun,
Lydiah Strauel, and
Lauren Sanderson finished within three seconds of each other for 18
th, 19
th, and 20
th. Elstun ran a 5:13.53 while Strauel and Sanders paced times of 5:14.76 and 5:16.23.
Morgan Lucason (5:28.46),
Nevaeh Warren (5:30.51),
Jenna Grogan (5:41.50), and
Tara Todd (5:42.80) rounded out UC's runners in the 1500.
The final race of the day was the 200m dash. Cumberland had five competitors in this event, leading the way was
Cora Stevens. Stevens raced to a 26.55 finish in her first 200m sprint of the year.
Jaida Reed and
Jullia Morris crossed the finish line together for a time of 26.73.
Ayani Hinson sprinter her way to a 27.14 time and
Morgan Bruin paced a 27.85 to complete the Patriots day on the track.
Delores Stevens posted an 18
th place finish in the hammer throw event. Stevenson's best throw of 33.70m came in her first attempt of the day.
Paige Newby and
Trinity Sherrod competed in the javelin throw Friday to round out UC's throwers. Newby threw her javelin 14.23m while Sherrod posted a 13.90m throw.
Mikkah Siler was the final field athlete to compete on the day, posting a 22
nd place finish in the high jump. Siler cleared the bar at 1.40m in her first try.
The final day of the Don McGarey Invitational is set to begin at 11:30 AM Saturday morning, with the final race set for 4:30 PM.
