Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

#12 Men’s Tennis Breaks Out Brooms Against Bethel

Williamsburg, KY - For the third consecutive match, UC's men's tennis program was able to get the sweep with this one coming against the Bethel Wildcats. The Patriots were in complete control throughout with them never giving up more than three points in a set to help them move to 14-4 on the season in the 7-0 win.

Martin Barbier and Eric Banoub kicked things off in doubles play with a win at the top spot with them dispatching of Bethel's Pedro D'Avila Vecchi and Pedro Bonato Donadon with ease, winning 6-2. Mattis Le Montagner and Luis Montull were up next for UC at #2 with them winning in similar fashion to Barbier and Banoub by a count of 6-1. Martin Muller and Hung-Ju Wu finished things out at #3 for Cumberlands with a flawless win with them grabbing the 6-0 victory as UC jumped ahead 1-0.

Barbier's performance in singles looked much like his efforts in doubles play as he was able to dominate at the #1 spot for the Patriots when going solo. After not allowing a point to scored against him in the first canto, Martin conceded just one in the second to take the 6-0, 6-1 win. Le Montagner did one better than Barbier with Mattis not allowing his Bethel counterpart, Marocs Neves, to score a single point in their matchup. Mattis' 6-0, 6-0 win moved things out to a 3-0 advantage for the Patriots with them eyeing their eighth win in their last 10 tries.

Martin Muller in the #3 spot was next to finish for UC with him being able to get an impressive win over the Wildcat's Pedro D'Avila Vecchi. After winning 6-3 in the first set, Muller tightened the screws even further with a 6-2 victory to clinch the win for the Patriots. Luis Montull followed behind Muller at #4 with a 6-3, 6-2 win of his own as Cumberlands began to close in on the sweep. Christian de la Fuente Nodado and Hung-Ju Wu made that a reality with each of them winning with ease. Nodado played in the #5 spot for UC and got an easy win, finishing ahead 6-1, 6-0 before Wu ended the match with a 6-1, 6-1 of his own.
